The Air-cooled heat exchanger (Air cooler) is a device for rejecting heat from a fluid or gas directly to ambient air. When cooling both fluids and gases, there are two sources readily available, with a relatively low cost, to transfer heat to.....air and water. The noticeable advantage of an air cooler is that it does not require water, which means that it is not needed to locate the equipment near supply of cooling water. In addition, the problems associated with treatment and disposal of water have become more costly with government regulations and environmental concerns

Air Cooled Condenser (ACC) is a system used for cooling of steam in the Thermal Power, Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Plants.

In this system, steam enters in vacuum/half vacuum condition, and is distilled and exits as saturated water. Vacuum pressure is a critical parameter to consider during the design procedure.

ACCs are supplied in three major types:
  • Multi Row Condenser – with circular tubes
  • Multi Row Condenser – with oval tubes, galvanization as the bonding process (MRG)
  • Single Row Condenser – with oval flat tubes, brazing as the bonding process (SRC)

    Air separation unit produce one or both of the two most common atmospheric industrial gases (nitrogen and oxygen) in the form of gas and sometimes as liquid products. Cryogenic plants Produce nitrogen, oxygen and argon as gas (and liquid) products using very low temperature distillation to separate and purify the desired products. Cryogenic plants are most commonly used to produce high purity products at medium to high production rates. Cryogenic air separation processes rely on differences in boiling points to separate and purify products. These air separation process cycles have evolved in parallel with advances in compression machinery, heat exchangers, distillation technology and gas expander technology.     Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger is the most common of the various types of unfired heat transfer equipment. It is the only type which can be considered for large surface areas having pressure greater than 30 bar and temperatures greater than 260.A shell and tube exchanger consists of a number of tubes mounted inside a cylindrical shell. Two fluids can exchange heat, one fluid flows over the outside of the tubes while the second fluid flows through the tubes. The fluids can be single or two phase and can flow in a parallel or a cross/counter flow arrangement
